Fear
| I read the words
that you write for me
Beautiful words filled with love... filled with hope I find it hard to accept that such a gift is for me I fear wanting you too much I fear loving you too hard I hear the impassioned words of your heart And I fear that I will wake to see the word Mistake in your eyes I fear that I will become a cenotaph Stumbling endlessly through life's house of mirrors While love's tune plays like a rhapsody On a carnival's hurdy-gurdy. As the brunt of a cosmic joke I stand on the sideshow's stage While the gods laugh and throw Tomatoes and crescent rolls At the fool who dared To want too much And dared to love too hard. I laugh and will be the fool Because you are worth the risk. 5/10/98allrightsreserved |
