You were a sidewalk encounter,
Ambling into my life with torrential rain and
Humidity so blanket thick
A breath would have seemed impossible.

Ice cream dripped
As words from our thawed tongues,
While cold edges and precipice wounds welcomed you
Like water from a pungent, poisonous pipe
And no more summer afternoons.
