It Was Foretold
by Geddes Fielder

It was foretold
one yuletide eve
before the elves
lay garlands
in the snow.

A promise made
whilie icicles glistened
like diamonds
across the window shelves
in frozen symmetry.

The mistletoe was ready,
the holly wreath
all made
and gifts were wrapped
and bundled in happy array.

A star that shone
in the night sky
fateful in it's prophesy
that candlelight could not subdue
nor dim it's fateful hue.

And winter rings
her wonder bell
that stays the course
through nights of
hopeful stockings swinging over the grate.

And it was foretold
before we ever learned each other
that you and I
would spend another
moonlit yuletide eve wrapped in love.
