A toast!
As toward us 
a New Millenium 
quickly coasts...

"To memories;
 those of past 
 those of present 
 and those yet to be made of future,
 let us remember to appreciate 
 that during this gift 
 of a bright, shiny new year
 may we each be blessed 
 with the wisdom and insight
 to do what is best 
 to do what is right
 and every day
 and every way
 give to one another
 our sisters and brothers
 as much love, caring and kindness
 peace, calm and tenderness 
 as we could wish for ourselves.
 Allow our patience to lengthen
 and our courage to strengthen 
 whenever another has made us wept
 and that we graciously accept
 that to answer a wrong with a wrong is inept
 and instead let us intercept
 misguided feelings of anger and pain
 and not be tempted to respond with the same
 and tonight
 when the clock strikes twelve
 let us promise to make these
 things dwell
 deep within us, become
 our own sentinels -
 guardians of the light, 
 insure that the flame of love 
 continues to burn ever bright.
 Let us promise each other
 and ourselves that from now on 
 we will all sing one song
 and only do that which is 
 true, good and right -
 beginning
 now...
 beginning 
 tonight."
