Our Savior's Birth
by PD Hemrick

Long ago in Bethlehem
there was a glorious night
When two way faring strangers
brought forth a wondrous sight

There was no room in the inn
the stable they did stay
And nestled with the animals
on a bed of hay

From Mary’s womb of innocence
a precious babe did come
And in that holy hour
our salvation had begun

A hallowed space
the resting place
and manger for the babe
As Mary hummed a lullaby
her songful body swayed

Wise men made their way
through the cold dark night
Cept for a brilliant Eastern star
there shown a marvelous light

A more tender breath, never taken
there was no greater joy
No finer hope or deeper love
than that precious baby boy

This “King of Jews”
The “Prince of Peace”
there was no greater worth
Sent forth as God’s gift of mercy
with our Savior’s birth.
