Desert  Oasis

Your love, as quiet as a dove
       falls softly from up above
             like raindrops, upon my
                     parched  skin.

And bringing it new life,
       the whole of me
             suddenly becomes
                    alive, aware, as one
                           with you.

How long in the desert had
I lain, in agony and despair
               of ever being loved
                      again?  And then here
                              you were.

You brought me life when
I was at the edge of
              death, waiting for it
                     to come.  You bade
                            me live.

And now I do, within those
        loving arms of yours,
             safe from the dark
                     and terrors of
                         before.

This life of mine I have come
         to cherish and want,
               with you here
                   in it
                       with me.
