Musings of a Taurean Woman
by Sharlie Mello

Grounded Grey Eagle

As far as the eye can see
the expansive sky
goes on forever
mountain ranges all around
punctuate the landscape
while throughout the day I watch
as shifting sunlight and cloud formations
play shadow image games
along the many slopes
and at day's end
the radiant western sky
offers a final warm glow
behind the ridges.
And here I sit
grounded
unable to soar
my eyes can only take in
and see on the surface
what my heart once felt.
Wounded spirit that I am
gray eagle has much to learn
before soaring again
and will follow a healing path
till strength is renewed
courage regained
and I'm ready to take wing
surveying all before me
meeting whatever the future holds
facing the challenges
and gliding along peaceful currents.
