hung in the air only moments ago
slipped into the sand alongside me
drowned by damn beating 
beneath these bones

but shelter and song took flight to sky

i pray dear sea, extend your reach
there’s not the strength to aid your task

this shell will surely hear her song
but water's music answers back
we have no need of shelter here
and sing beneath a sea of black
