words
a whisper on the skin
soft impression on the heart
but a beacon in the night
the voice well versed in lullaby
with quiet confidence
for balance
of heartbreaking gentleness
to know the tender is to know the pain
and hurt hovers on a dark edge
leaning 
with each inhale
while the heart will fight
the voice will not
and sings to soul of calm and flame
what has the heart endured 
that the voice must reassure
joy is to be found
in dream and day
and lullabies are heard
and the heart is healed
and the soul is soothed
in the sunshine of the voice
and its words
