In the matrix of refusal, the shadows unfold.
Somewhere they dance in her mind.
The reasons elusive and fast flies away,
No solaced retrieval to find.
Where once was a garden, now all’s laid to waste,
Their love was not as it seemed,
For impending betrayal doomed her lovers’ heart,
Her seduction was now but a dream.
But what of forever she asked with a tear.
The one with a heart made of stone,
Said “nothings forever, our time has been spent.”
With that, her hope was all gone.
“But, please won’t you tell me what I have done?
I promise, I’ll make it all right!”
Her question unanswered lay like a stone,
As her lover fled in the night.
She cried out, “please don’t leave me, I love you still!”
As if thinking she still had a choice.
But the loud wall of silence that returned to her ear
Only echoed the pain in her voice.
Still she seeks explanations, that do not appear.
Grasps the deep darkness, that soon gathers in,
And as she lies crying alone in her bed,
She moans like the willows that cry in the wind.
