A lonesome stray dog out wandering alone
Hungry and thirsty and wanting a home
With no shelter from rain or warmth from the cold
Restless and weary and feeling so old…

Covering hard miles in every direction
Just to seek comfort, attention, affection.
A couple of times was tossed a few bones,
But then it left hungry and still on its own.

Tell me who could turn, who could turn away
A wet, shaking puppy on a cold, rainy day?
Are there temples for stray dogs in Heaven
Ones who only know Hell here on Earth?

Well, I'm that stray dog out wandering alone
Longing for love and wanting a home…
Yes, a couple of times I was tossed a few bones,
But the hand would withdraw, I'd stand there alone.

Are there temples for stray dogs in Heaven
Ones who only know Hell here on Earth…
With shelter from the rain and warmth from the cold
With a hand to reach out, a hand I could hold?

I walked 10,000 miles in every direction
I just needed comfort, attention, affection
Tell me who could turn, could you turn away
This cute, lonely pup on a cold, rainy day?

Or would you take me into your family,
One I could love and one who'd love me?
Will I have to keep waiting and die just to see…
Is there a temple in Heaven for a stray dog like me?
