Midnite at the Town Clock

Softly comes the nite
as she sits with her
back leaning against the
the town clock
People pass by unseen
in the darkness as she
tries to hold on tight

She feels pity for
the leaves as she watches
them fall forlornly from the
withered tree that is
within her sight
She remembers a time
when she was a part of
everything
a glistening jewel of the
universe......

These days she finds
herself
looking to see forever
forgetting about today
never seeing tomorrow
and only remembers
yesterday
forgetting to turn
the page as within her the rage built

Restless soul, always seeking
but never finding the answers
she sinks into a deep depression
Her eyes have traveled far away
from me, silent eyes that hint
at everything
as she contemplated and carried
out her own extinction.
