Release

Like a thief in the nite
you steal into my dreams
once again.

I toss and turn
and my stomach
churns as your voice
thunders in my head,

I try to get away from you
and hide under the bed
but you block me,
there was no way out
that I could see

Your eyes blazing like coal
searing deep into the core of
my soul.
I lay stone cold in my fear ...
not even my eyes could
bring a tear ...

Just in time, in the distance
a ringing I hear
I wake up drenched in sweat
what I was about to do would
be no small feat...

I get up and go to my dresser
where upon top lay a family
photo album
I take out the faded and
worn picture of you Dad,
giving a last long hard look,
no longer will I allow you to
be in this book

Now it's time for you to hear
my words
no longer will I allow you to
make me feel sad...
Those days will now be in the
past, as to the future I will hold
steadfast

My words, so unlike yours, are
of Peace, Love, and Life...
no more strife and no more fight,
no more of feeling bad...
I am alive with the sacred
wisdom that lives inside

I take a lighted match
and watch as your picture
burns... I feel a release
no longer inside of me

will you reside.
